Road Safety Week 2007, 5-11 November 2007
The theme of Road Safety Week 2007 is child road safety on foot and bike. Seven children are killed or seriously injured every day while walking and cycling on UK roads. Brake is holding a national media launch and regional media launches around the country to call on the Government to introduce default 20mph zones around schools and homes, and ensure safe pavements and crossings are in place where children are out and about. Road Safety Week, 6-12 November 2006. The campaign focussed on young driver and passenger safety. About one in eight (13%) of motor vehicle licence holders is aged 25 or under, yet more than a quarter (29%) of motor vehicle drivers killed are in this age group. Brake held media launches at 12 key cities around the country:
