Zak's fundraising page for schools

Zak no eyelashesHi, I'm Zak the Zebra - mascot for road safety charity Brake.

Welcome to my fundraising page for schools!

The team and I are busy creating a brand new website for children, parents and teachers that will be launched in March 2019.

In the meantime, below are some of my ideas on how you can raise money and help Brake care for families bereaved in road crashes, but feel free to come up with your own. As well as supporting a worthy cause, it also helps children understand the concept of helping others, while creating empathy for those less fortunate.

You can invite me to attend your school here or visit my page.

And make sure you send me your lovely photos via email, Twitter or Facebook.

Wear Your Stripes Day / Diwrnod Gwisgwch Eich Streipiau

WYSD LogoThis is a fantastic new dress-down day where you can get your children and staff to dress like me!

Get them to swap their school uniform for fun, bright, stripy clothes in exchange for a donation to Brake.

Almost everyone has something striped in their wardrobe and you can accessorise by printing off my Zak mask.

Simply download my poster (in English or yn Gymraeg) to put on display around the school and use our template letter to send home to parents. For more information about Wear Your Stripes Days and to register to take part, email

Note to educators: this is a great way to support your activities for Brake's Kids Walk.

Bake for Brake

BakingGrab your aprons and make some delicious treats to sell during or after school!

Baking is one of the simplest things in the world and everyone loves a biscuit or cupcake, particularly if they know their extra calorie intake is all in a good cause. You can have your own one-off sale, tie it in with my Wear Your Stripes Day or sell tasty treats during a big event such as a school fete, coffee morning or disco.

I've given some classic recipes a road safety twist to give you a start:

My yummy Traffic Light Biscuits can help remind kids about safe crossing places.

My Road Safety Cup Cakes can be decorated to look like mini zebras.

I'm heading back to the kitchen to come up with some new recipes, so watch this space...

Staffroom sweepstake

Matty Norman FootballSweepstakes are an easy and fun way of raising money within your staffroom.

Choose an event or competition to base your sweepstake on; get people to pay a set amount to enter and draw names out of a hat; give half the money collected to the winner and half to Brake.

For more ideas or to request a specific sweepstake pack, visit Brake's sweepstake page
