helplineMany people who fundraise or donate to Brake have been personally affected by death or injury in a road crash and want to give something back to the cause to help Brake campaign to stop deaths and injuries in the future and help Brake support other families affected in this way.

If you have been personally affected and you wish to fundraise for Brake, please browse the ideas below and the many more on our fundraising pages or you can call Lisa, our volunteer manager, on 01484 683294 to chat through ideas or email her at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Donations at a funeral
Some people bereaved by road crashes have generously fundraised for Brake by asking for donations instead of flowers at a funeral or memorial service. If you wish to do this and would like some words about Brake and the use of our logo for a funeral programme, please call Lisa on the details above.

Commemorative event
Other people bereaved by road crashes have kindly held an event as a personal celebration in memory of a loved one who died (such as a dinner dance featuring their favourite music, or a sports event featuring their favourite sport) meaning that friends and family can commemorate together while also raising funds for Brake and celebrating a loved one's life. Some families do this annually in aid of Brake. We can provide you with balloons and other materials carrying the Brake logo to help brand your event. Call Lisa on the details above. You can also use these event organisation tips to help your event be a success.  You can read about two of the many bereaved families who have generously helped Brake in this way by reading Katie's story and Jamie's story.

Collections
Other people bereaved by road crashes hold collections for Brake within a workplace or school or a club, or through local shops. We can provide you with collection tins. Call Lisa on the details above.

Personal and team challenges
Others take on a personal or team challenge, such as a hill walk or parachute jump in memory of their loved one and in aid of Brake. Browse our fundraising pages for lots of personal and team challenge ideas, or call Lisa on the details above to talk about what you want to do.

Making your donation and gift aid
You can donate online using the button at the top right of this website or by calling 01484 559909 to pay by credit card over the phone or send by cheque to PO Box 548, Huddersfield, HD1 2XZ. Thank you.

If you are a UK taxpayer, Brake is able to claim 25p for every pound you donate.  If you donate online please tick the gift aid box. If you are sending us a cheque in the post, we would be extremely grateful if you could spend a moment completing a gift aid form (download here) and pop it in the envelope with your donation.  This means we can make the best possible use of your kind donation.
