Get on your neon leg warmers and run a Bright Day, a dress down day with a difference! Everyone turns up wearing crazily bright clothes, and donates a pound to Brake.

The day, kindly sponsored by B-Scene, helps to remind drivers to slow down and watch out for pedestrians and cyclists and raises awareness of the thousands of people killed and injured on foot and bicycle on our roads every year.

Your funds help Brake to run our road safety campaigns and education programmes and support families bereaved and injured by road crashes.

Read on for general tips on how to organise your BrakeBright day!

Beforehand

1. Choose a date to run your BrakeBright day (a Friday is usually a popular choice!)
2. Display the BrakeBright! poster on a prominent notice board informing staff or students about the event
3. Email round the event date to all colleagues (or teachers to tell their class) - along with details on what, why and how
4. Let your local press know you’re running a BrakeBright day (use our template press release) - a great way to raise the profile of your company or school
5. Send a reminder email round, the day before your BrakeBright! day, reminding people to come to work dressed insanely bright! (You could even give a small prize for the brightest staff member or student!)

On the day

1. On the morning of the event, go round and collect £1 from everybody and distribute the road safety literature provided by Brake.
2. If you’ve sent a press release to the local media, give them a ring to remind them about the event and ask them whether they are going to come along and photograph you all.
3. Take a group Photo!

Afterwards

2. Send the monies raised to Brake in one of the following ways:
