What is a Virtual Run?

A ‘Virtual Run’ is a race that can be run at any location, wherever you are in the world.  You can walk, jog, run, use a treadmill or participate in any local race already happening.   It's your race, so you can choose what distance you run and how fast you run it.

When is it taking place?

Brake's Virtual Run is taking place throughout May 2017.  You can choose the day you wish you take part.

How can I take part?

To register, simply click here or any of the REGISTER NOW button to fill out our online entry form.

How much does it cost?

Early bird price (BEFORE 13th March 2017) is just £10 for adults and £5 for children.

Standard price (AFTER 13th March 2017) is £15 for adults and £10 for children.

Once you have registered you will receive a special Brake Virtual Run t-shirt, fundraising pack and Virtual Run sponsorship forms.

Then in May 2017, you complete your run! Let us know when you've done it and we'll send you a special medal and thank you certificate in the post!

How far should I run?

This is your race, so you choose how far you run. We recommend that you run either 1K, 5K or 10K but that’s just our suggestion, you can run whatever distance you’d like.

Why not give yourself a challenge – something to work towards.

Should I take photographs?

virtualrun1Yes please! We would love to see them and share Virtual Run photos to our social media pages. You can either send them to us at fundraise@brake.org.uk or use the hashtag #BrakesVirtualRun.

If you are recording your run on your phone, why not screenshot your distance and time too?

Can I get sponsored?

Yes please! You will receive a hard-copy Virtual Run sponsorship form when you receive your pack. Can't wait until then? We'll also email you an online copy when you register.

If you want to do your fundraising online, you can set up a JustGiving page during the registration process.

All the money raised from the Virtual Run will go towards our dedicated work preventing road death and injury and supporting others who have been bereaved or injured in road crashes.

Can I run in memory of a loved one?

Yes. We have many supporters who organise and take part in a range of fundraisers in memory of a loved one.

If you are running in memory of a loved one, there will be an opportunity to say who you are running for during the registration process.

Can a team of us run together?

virtualrun2Yes! We strongly encourage running with friends or family to get the most out of your Virtual Run.

There will be an opportunity to create or join a team during the registration process.

Where can I run?

virtualrun3You can complete your run anywhere, (so long as you are not breaking the law!)

Why not complete your run;

  • down at your local park
  • at your local gym on the treadmill-
  • as part of an organised local event

Where you choose is up to you!

Are there any running events happening near me?

There are many 5K, 10K, half and full marathons also taking part all across the UK.

Click here to find out where your nearest run is.

Participants will have to register for external races individually. Brake does not take responsibility for booking you onto these races.

Want something more local and less formal? Park Run organise hundreds of weekly, free, pre-arranged races in local parks all across the UK. You can find your nearest one here.

Who can I contact for more information?
