Volunteering opportunities for all

If you have been bereaved or injured in a crash, or you are passionate about road safety, there are lots of ways you can help Brake by volunteering in your community or our office.

Youth engagement officer

Brake is seeking a youth engagement officer to join its community engagement team at our head office in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. This is an exciting, fast paced role, giving you the chance to develop experience in four key areas; project organisation, marketing, relationship management and fundraising.

As youth engagement officer, you will report to Brake’s community engagement manager to ensure delivery of key community engagement projects for secondary schools, included, but not limited to, Youth for Brake and Project24.

Education consultant

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic education expert to work with us on a             project to determine how educational interventions relating to safe and healthy mobility should be delivered in schools.

Development Manager (post-crash)

This is a new role responsible for identifying and successfully pursuing funding and partnership opportunities for services and projects that enable improved, positive outcomes following a road crash in the UK and abroad.

Independent Road Bereavement Advocate (IRBA)

Brake is working with the Warwickshire OPCC to provide an on-the-ground, expert support in Warwickshire for families bereaved by a road crash. This is a new role for Brake and will be a highly regarded and integral part of our NRVS. The successful candidate will provide expert, one-to-one support to people within Warwickshire, who have suffered traumatic bereavement by a road crash. The IRBA service will enable people bereaved by road crashes to gain access to a specialist service providing early care (accessed as soon as possible and for the duration of the first six weeks after the crash and longer if required.)

Grants Fundraising Volunteer

Working directly with, and reporting to, the Grants and Trusts Team you will be working within a team of two who are developing a new income stream for the charity. Your role will be to research and identify charitable trusts, foundations and grant funders with values that align with Brake’s and who have the potential to support the charity.
