Robert James Gaunt - Rest in Peace

  • PDF

Robert James GauntRobert James Gaunt aged 9yrs old died March 21st 2009.

Robert was a typical lively 9 year old boy, full of fun and lived for the day.

He was out playing with his friends that evening and they had been down the public footpath which comes out on to an unlit road. Robert took his bike everywhere with him and that night as Robert was crossing the road with his bike he got hit by an uninsured / unlicenced driver and was hit into the path of an on coming vehicle. The first driver failed stop and left him there. Robert was taken to the nearest A+ E and then later transfered to Alderhey Hospital but sadly Robert died 2 days later and died from multiple injuries.

Only the driver could give us the answers to what happened that evening but we still don’t know and probably never will. No one thought the last time they saw Robert alive it would be their last and he was taken away from all his family without having chance to say goodbye or even to tell him just how much they loved him.

It has left a great hole in all our hearts and we are left to deal with a life sentance without him and yet the driver is only given 22mths for taking his life, where is the “Justice for Robert “.

Rest in peace Robbie x

Robert’s family would appreciate your support of their campaign to increase the sentencing guidelines for drivers causing death whilst driving an uninsured vehicle, driving without a license, leaving the scene of the accident and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
