Sam - we cherish your memory

Understanding Sam

So beautiful, So spirited, So great!

Bitterness filled through my body,

enraged with the lord for taking you.

At war in my own thoughts with the spirits

for grabbing you within a matter of minutes.

Why now? Why today? Why Sam?

Questions spun round my head,

spending sleepless nights in bed.

Oh selfish cruel world,

why this family?

As I tried to make sense of this tragedy.

He was my prince, I wanted him with me

on earth for eternity.

My faith begins to diminish,

will this heartache ever finish?

But a blanket of security comes to cover me,

knowing your spirit is free.

Now my comfort is knowing you’re in a safe place,

no harm can invade your sacred space.

So I’ll cherish your memories that echo to me

they amplify your voice ‘Remember Me!’

*This beautiful poem was written by Kay Thomson in memory of her cousin Sam *
