Heaven

Written by Steve who was seriously injured by a drink driver in January 2006. The incident also injured his brother-in-law Mike and tragically killed his brother Tony.

As I lay my head down upon my pillow, I await my journey into the vast world of my dreams, where I wander endlessly, where the starts light up my pathway which I follow with a great love and longing to find you and see you once more, to say the words left unsaid, and to tell you I love you.

In the calm serenity of my dreams I feel peace, I feel safe and I can feel your presence ever near me.

Further, in the distance, I see a faint light, glowing, flickering, beckoning me to follow. With hope in my heart, I follow. With love in my heart, I call you.

**

And then, from within the half light of my dream world, I see you, standing there before me, safely embraced by the warmth of a Heavenly glow. You smile.. The overpowering sense of love I feel reassures me and comforts me, and gives me hope.

Just once more I long to touch you and, if it were only possible, to bring you home. But I know that cannot be, and knowing you are needed for greater things in God’s Kingdom gives me great pride. I know you are safe in Heaven with the words unsaid and a loving smile you say goodbye, and that one day soon, we shall meet again.

As my dream world merges with the real world once more, my eyes open to feel the warmth of the sun shining down on me. Filled with love and contentment I know I shall be able to touch you once more in Heaven.

Because as surely as the family chain on earth is broke one by one, in Heaven it becomes stronger one by one until the chain is once more complete for all eternity.
