Today's announcement from the Department for Transport outlines how drivers, passengers and cyclists across England will benefit from funding to enhance the safety of some of the most high-risk roads in England.
Through the third round of the Safer Roads Fund, 27 new schemes will be delivered, with safety improvements such as re-designed junctions and improved signs and road markings.
The programme aims to reduce the risk of collisions, as well as congestion, journey times and emissions.
Lucy Straker, campaigns manager at Brake, said: “We welcome this investment in improving the safety of some of our roads. We know that good road design puts the needs of people before traffic so everyone can make safe and healthy journeys. We hope that the Government continues to support this and other developments so that all roads across the UK can have the very highest levels of safety to protect the people that use them.”
