Through both my professional 30-year career as a fire officer in attending fatal road traffic collisions and also through my own personal experience of losing a family member on the roads, I know the vital important of ‘Safe Roads for All’.
It's everyone’s right to feel safe when out and about using our roads and it’s ALL our responsibility to ensure that our own actions do put others at risks which should prevent tragedy.
As the National Fire Chief Council (NFCC) lead officer for Road Safety I am an ambassador for the Share the Road safety campaign – the campaign highlights:
- Everyone has the right to use the roads safely, regardless of how they chose to travel
- Look out for one another to help keep each other safe on the roads
- It is important that we all share the road and are courteous to each other
- Everyone is human with a story to tell. Be kind and considerate to each other.
It's everyone’s right to feel safe when out and about using our roads and it’s ALL our responsibility to ensure that our own actions do put others at risks which should prevent tragedy.
Share the Road resources have been made available by the Cheshire Road Safety Group and they can be used either as a stand-alone campaign or to support road safety messaging throughout the year. The resources are available to download on the NFCC website at www.nationalfirechiefs.org.uk
