Arjun, Archie and George's story

Arjun Binning, Archie Couchman and George Ogan, three students at Murray Park School in Derbyshire, set up a committee to raise awareness about safe and healthy mobility in their school and local community. The group were committed to their task, meeting weekly at lunch-times to discuss what they could do, together, to make a positive difference to road safety.

The committee delivered presentations to fellow students at Murray Park and to 251 students at the local junior school, St Peters CE. The three students also wrote to the Prime Minister, and were delighted to receive a response, and took part in media interviews with BBC Radio Derbyshire.

Arjun, Archie and George are still going strong, and plan to go to Westminster to speak with MPs about their cause - although plans are currently put on hold, due to lockdown restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Innocent people are losing their lives because of dangerous driving every day. That’s why we stepped up to raise awareness of road safety, but when we started this project, we never imagined we would get this far. We hope that our work has inspired people in our local community, both the young and the old, to be more aware of road safety and that our efforts will contribute to making roads safer for everyone.
