Nick has been at the forefront of mobility research for almost two decades, focusing on road safety and transport technologies. With expertise in psychology, human factors, road safety, and connected and automated vehicles, Nick’s pioneering research has had a positive impact on road safety and safer driving practices.
In 2021, Nick was awarded a three-year contract to serve as the first-ever Chief Road Safety Advisor to National Highways, where he played an important role in helping the road safety team form a strategy for their Vision Zero ambition to achieve zero road deaths across the Strategic Road Network.
Alongside consultancy work, Nick contributes time and expertise to road safety initiatives as a trustee of a number of national charities, including Brake. He is praised by those he works with for exceptional expertise and knowledge, as well as his pragmatic and personable approach.
Nick Reed, founder of Reed Mobility, said: “My motivation throughout my career has been how to improve road safety so I was delighted to be recognised for my contribution in this area. However, there is still a long way to go until we have a road transport system that we can truly consider to be safe. I look forward to continuing my work, alongside Brake and many other partners in the sector, to eliminate the harm and anguish caused by road crashes.”
The Kevin Storey Award for Outstanding Commitment to Road Safety, sponsored by Matrix iQ, was presented to Nick Reed at the UK Fleet Champions Awards 2024. The award celebrates the organisation or individual that has gone above and beyond the call of duty in their commitment to road safety, not just within the company but also the wider community.
