As well as supporting people with grief and practical issues like finances, Brake caseworkers can also help people to navigate the often complex and gruelling legal processes that unfold after a road death or injury.
Partnering with our esteemed panel of seven specialist law firms, all of which have signed up to a Brake code of conduct for supporting road crash victims, means we can signpost people to expert, empathetic and confidential advice – provided at no cost – when they most need it.
Personal injury law firms Alderstone Solicitors, Hodge Jones & Allen, Horwich Cohen Coghlan (HCC) Solicitors, Irwin Mitchell, and Slater and Gordon – all long-standing Brake partners – have renewed their support and funding for Brake’s legal panel for the next two years.
Following a successful first year’s partnership in 2025, JMW Solicitors has also pledged to continue to support Brake and completes the line-up of specialists on our legal panel providing support for road victims across England and Wales.
In addition, law firm Hugh James, together with Irwin Mitchell and Slater and Gordon, can provide specialist legal support to people bereaved or injured when a crash happens abroad. Alderstone Solicitors and JMW Solicitors are also able to support people involved in military cases.
As well as providing a vital, sustainable source of funding for Brake’s National Road Victim Service, the law firms on our panel can give expert legal help after a road death or serious injury, across areas such as inquests, wills and probate, and claims for compensation. All of the supporting firms specialise in fatal injury cases.
Elsewhere, independent legal panels are available to support road victims in Scotland.
We are hugely grateful to our legal panel partners for once again cementing their commitment to the life-changing work we do.
