About the conference

On Tuesday 20 June 2023, Brake held its inaugural ‘After the Crash' conference to showcase excellence in post-crash care.

Nearly 190 people representing the police, emergency services, charities that support injured road victims or bereaved adults or children, trauma counsellors and therapists, gathered at the conference in Manchester to share knowledge and agree the next steps to ensure that people affected injured by road crashes receive the expert support they need.

After the Crash was organised by Brake, the road safety charity. Brake runs the National Road Victim Service, which supports hundreds of families every year who have been bereaved or seriously injured in road crashes. The conference was delivered with the support of the National Police Chiefs’ Council Roads Policing Portfolio.
