Entries are now open for the 2026 awards programme, and the charity urges all safety-conscious fleet operators, suppliers, manufacturers and individuals to submit an entry and share more about the work they do.
Fleet telematics provider Quartix is the headline sponsor for this year’s awards and Driving for Better Business by National Highways returns as Brake’s partner in delivery for the third-year running.
Brake has been running an awards programme for safety in the fleet sector for more than 20 years. The UK Fleet Champions Awards 2026 continues to recognise and celebrate the important achievements of organisations and individuals working to prevent crashes and reduce pollution caused by work vehicles. It is currently estimated that around a third of road deaths and a fifth of serious injuries involve someone who is driving for work.
This year, Brake has introduced some new awards into the programme and updated other award categories to reflect ongoing changes in the industry, particularly around newer technology.
New for 2026, is the Road Safety Hero Award, for the fleet manager, supervisor or driver who has carried out a heroic act in their line of duty, for example stopping at the scene of a crash to help keep people safe or give first aid, or providing excellent support to a colleague that has been involved in a crash. A new Emergency Services Driver Safety Award is for police, fire and rescue, ambulance and other emergency services organisations that are complying with the very highest driver safety standards.
Other changes include a new Net Zero Award, for organisations working to reduce their environmental impact through their business activities. The Fleet Safety Technology Innovation award will be awarded to a fleet operator or supplier that can demonstrate they have taken a pioneering approach to fleet safety, by implementing the latest technological solutions, with proven results. The Road Safety in the Community Award has also been updated, as has the Fleet Team of the Year which replaces Fleet Driver of the Year, looking for an overall team that has gone above and beyond to champion road safety.
There are 13 awards in total. Find out more about this year’s awards, all the category details and how to enter by visiting www.brake.org.uk/uk-fleet-champions-awards.
Entries open today, Thursday 26 February, and close on Friday 1 May. The awards are free to enter and are an excellent opportunity to celebrate the hard work of the organisations and individuals across the fleet sector that make road safety a priority.
Following the deadline, all entries will be judged by an independent panel of judges and presented at a glittering ceremony hosted by Brake at New Dock Hall in Leeds, on Wednesday 30 September 2026. Last year’s event brought together more than 270 people from across the fleet industry to celebrate 50 shortlisted organisations and individuals. Tickets for the event are on sale now, with an early bird offer. Click here to buy tickets.
Final sponsorship opportunities for 2026 are still available, please contact the Brake team on corporate@brake.org.uk to find out more.
The winners of the UK Fleet Champions Awards 2025 were announced at a glittering awards ceremony in Leeds.
Brake’s CEO Ross Moorlock commented: “Around one in three road deaths in the UK, and a fifth of serious injuries, involve someone driving for work. Every year, Brake supports more than 2,000 families who have been bereaved or injured in a road crash, so we see first-hand the devastating impact of these crashes on everyone involved.
“These awards are an excellent opportunity for fleets to showcase the important work they are doing to try to address these numbers. We’re excited to bring new changes to this year’s UK Fleet Champions Awards, and recognise those who are finding new and innovative ways to make our roads safer. We want to hear more about the managers and the teams who are out there working hard to make a difference. We look forward to rewarding organisations that put safety first, and giving them the recognition they deserve.
“We’d also like to thank Driving for Better Business and Quartix for their vital support of this important programme.”
Sean Maher, global sales director at Quartix added: “We’re delighted to sponsor the 2026 UK Fleet Champions Awards and to partner with Brake in their mission to make our roads safer.
“Every death or serious injury on our roads is one too many, and preventing harm takes leadership, accountability and action. We're excited to be a part of this year's awards and see first-hand the huge role organisations are playing in improving safety. At Quartix we are all about building a stronger safety culture across the workforce, and these awards recognise those who are leading the way."
Mark Cartwright, head of commercial vehicle incident prevention at National Highways, and Anne-Marie Penny, senior road safety policy advisor and lead for Driving for Better Business, added: “After the success of last year’s awards, we’re very pleased to once again partner with Brake for the UK Fleet Champions Awards. These awards shine a light on the excellent work happening behind the scenes to improve road safety through strong management to reduce risk.
“Together, we’re working towards a future where driving for work is consistently safe, efficient and sustainable – and where every road user gets home safe and well.”
